Set
in North America's premier mountain resort, the
8th annual Whistler Film Festival presented by
American Express will take place December 4 to
7, 2008.
Each year, the Whistler Film
Festival presents a selection of more than 90
films from Canada and around the globe, including
premieres from some of North America’s top
directors, and awards over $42,000 in prizes and
commissions. This four- day extravaganza also
features lively festival celebrations including
parties, an outdoor screening, a tribute to a
distinguished filmmaker and the annual Celebrity
Challenge ski race.
This premier event also
feature innovative industry programming through
the Whistler Filmmaker Forum that takes place
alongside the Festival, providing a full range
of professional development, market and networking
opportunities for filmmakers, as well as several
special events.
The Whistler Film Festival Society
(WFFS) is a charitable, not-for-profit cultural
and educational organization committed to celebrating,
promoting and developing a strong film industry
in Western Canada, and to showcasing the best
films from Canada and around the world. WFFS produces
one of Canada’s leading film festivals and
plays a leadership role in offering professional
development programs and opportunities for filmmakers.
Under the umbrella of the
WFFS, there are two main programs: the Whistler
Film Festival - Whistler's annual celebration
of film, and the Whistler Filmmaker Forum - Western
Canada's premier industry event.
